GL11 Community Hub Announce New CEO

Stroud District’s biggest Community Hub, the award-winning GL11 in Cam & Dursley, has announced Lisa Wilson as their new permanent CEO.

"I'm delighted that the Board of Trustees have agreed to appointed Lisa as GL11 Community Hub's new CEO” says Doina Cornell, Chair of GL11’s Trustees. “We had an excellent field of candidates to choose from, which bears testimony to the recognition of GL11's value in making a real difference in our local community. I am proud that, as well as trustees, we had representatives from staff, community members and key community partners, all participating in a day with our short-listed candidates, and their input in making the final decision was invaluable. Lisa's values and experience shone through, and we all look forward to working together with her on this new exciting chapter for GL11."

Lisa had been acting as Interim CEO at the Community Hub since the spring, when long-serving CEO, Indigo Redfern MBE decided to stand down.

“I'm immensely proud and excited to have been appointed as the new CEO for GL11 Community Hub” says Lisa Wilson. “I look forward to working alongside community members and partners to strengthen and unite our community together.”

Earlier this year, GL11 Community Hub was named 'Best Community Project' in the Stroud News & Journal Community Awards 2025.

Each year, some 8,000 people come through GL11's doors, for a broad range of around 40 weekly activities and support services that improve lives by increasing trust, belonging, and peer support within the local community.

Some of GL11’s positive community impacts over the last year include -

  • 5,539 hot meals served in our subsidised community cafe, 401 foodbank visits, and 949 community pantry shops, supporting those in food poverty.

  • 217 people received money and benefits advice, and 156 people received housing advice, the former resulting in a combined increase of £208,305 additional household income into the local community.

  • 1,281 wellbeing counselling sessions provided for people with anxiety and depression.

  • 98% of people engaging with GL11 say that their health and wellbeing has improved.

  • 93% say they now feel in more control of their lives.

  • 93% of people attending GL11 report making new friends and feeling better connected to the local community.

  • 90% of parents who engaged with GL11’s families team say it has improved their confidence in their parenting skills, and 95% are 'much more' confident about appropriate nutrition and portion sizes for their children, with 71% have tried out new healthier recipes, encouraged by GL11.
