Employment Support Worker

(Navigator Developer)

£19,000-£23,000 pro rata

27.45 hours/week, 50 weeks/year including term time

GL11 is a thriving Community Hub based in Cam, Gloucestershire, providing a wide range of learning, volunteering, employment and young people’s services to support a thriving local community.

We are now recruiting an Employment Support Worker (Navigator Developer on the GEM project)

The GEM (Going the Extra Mile) project is a unique and unprecedented partnership of 28 community-based charities and is managed by Gloucestershire Gateway Trust on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. It started across Gloucestershire in October 2016, with an aim to engage with 1,100 people over the three years. It is funded by the European Social Fund and National Lottery Fund.

The GEM project aims to reach out to members of the community that are dealing with circumstances that mean they are furthest from the job market. The goal is to move these people closer towards employment through education, training, volunteering or work, including self-employment.

Services are delivered county wide in Gloucestershire, and to be eligible the participant must be unemployed, have the right to work in the UK and be over the age of 15. Participants between the age of 15 to 18 must not be in education (NEET).

Once on the GEM project a participant will be paired with a Navigator Developer, with whom they can devise a personalised action plan that is uniquely tailored to individuals to meet their needs and requirements to overcome any barriers they may have that are affecting their lives. Fulltime Navigator Developers are expected to see participants through the project in an estimated six months and to assist 22 (pro-rata for part time posts) participants yearly.

The GEM Project is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund.

This is a maternity cover post working closely with the GL11 GEM team to co-ordinate and deliver the GEM project to meet project outcomes and provide intensive day to day 1:2:1 support to GEM project participants to build their stability, confidence, motivation and readiness to learn, and ultimately move them closer towards education, training, volunteering or work, including self-employment.  This project is funded by the European Social Fund & the Big Lottery and has in-depth monitoring requirements that requires thorough and meticulous attention to detail.
