Children and Families

GL11 has several exciting areas designed for you and your family to explore together and enjoy. You will find fun activities for children of all ages, from babies up to 12 years old, held in a safe and supportive environment.

If you have children who are rapidly heading into their teens take a look at our Youth Programme here for young people aged 13-18.

Younger Years

Baby Massage

Kathryn, at Tender Touch, joins us on Thursdays to walk us through the techniques of gentle baby massage. The 5 week course, Sooth Settle and Sleep, is designed for new parents with soothing and settling techniques to aid in nurturing a bond and relieving baby discomfort, such as colic, which can all help during those early weeks.

Each course runs for 5 weeks, from 11.45am-12.45pm.

For more information and to book your place, please visit the Tender Touch website.

Messy Mondays!

Every Monday between 10am-12noon, we hold a Messy Play session for pre-schoolers at just £1.50 per child. These sessions are designed to keep little ones entertained and to allow parents/carers to catch up with friends whilst enjoying a rare hot cup of tea. Get messy playing with jelly and whipped cream, finger painting and swimming in shredded paper! Each week holds different textures, colours and smells for your little ones to explore.

Please get in touch with Colette on 01453 548530 for more details about joining the session.

Family Fridays

Family Friday welcomes you and your family to have the run of GL11 between 9.30am-2pm! With activities designed for families with children under 5, there is plenty for everyone to do.

Children under 5 can let off steam in the garden and creche rooms at our Stay & Play session, between 10am-2pm.

We also have a designated Baby Hour, 11am-12noon, offering sensory play and messy time for babies who are not yet on the move. Baby hour has a free crèche alongside for older siblings, allowing parents and babies to share some special time together, which we all know can be hard to find in everyday life.

Once a month, Family Friday also offers a ‘What’s Up’ session, with a trained team on-hand to answer any questions, big or small, about your little one.

Family Friday offers everything under one roof – including drinks and a hot lunch in our community café for you and your children at the cost of just £3 per family. No need to worry about a packed lunch, or rushing home for feeding time!

After School Activities

Adventure Play

We know how busy modern life is for parents, and sometimes our children need a space after school where they can feel safe, let off steam and socialise with friends.

On Monday afternoons, we run Adventure Play for 6-9 year olds and children aged 9-12 years can join us on Tuesdays at Adventure Play+. Both sessions run from 4-6pm and cost £3 per child.

Here at GL11 we encourage children to step away from technology for a while and explore the endless possibilities of the outdoors. With a purpose built pirate ship, mud kitchen and performing stage your children will soon be using their imagination to create all sorts of fun. Our skilled play workers also offer supported activities such as campfire cooking; go-kart building; wood carving and rope swing building!

Adventure Holiday Clubs

We extend our adventure play offerings for the school holidays, running a half-term holiday club for 8-12 year olds. This half-term the club is running on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th February from 9.30am to 3pm for £15 per child, per day. Don’t forget your lunchboxes!

Get in touch with Colette on 01453 548350 or e-mail office@gl11.org.uk for more details about after school sessions.

Support for Parents

Parenting Anxious Children

More of our children today display symptoms relating to anxiety, worrying deeply about day to day struggles. We want parents to know that you are not alone, and that there are practical ways to help.

Join our 5 week course on Wednesday mornings, 9.30-11.30am, to explore ideas, practical tips and strategies. The whole course costs just £10.

Our next course starts Wednesday 21st February, 9.30am.

Get in touch with Colette on 01453 548350 or e-mail office@gl11.org.uk for more details about joining these sessions.

Specialist Support: Allsorts Youth Group

Allsorts is a youth group for children with additional needs to get together with parents and have fun. Allsorts was set up by parents as a supportive space that recognises both the rewards and difficulties of having children with additional needs.

The group meets on Saturdays at GL11 from 9am-5pm.
